It actually looks like a proper lantern rather than a security gadget, but it still lights the whole drive the second anyone turns in.

Been through a very wet few months on an exposed wall and it hasn't missed a night. That was my main worry before ordering.

Ten minutes with a screwdriver and it was up. No electrician, no chasing cable — and the side path is finally usable after dark.

Well packed, screws included, and the warm light is much nicer than the cold blue glare of the solar light it replaced.
Still Fumbling for Your Keys in the Dark?
The porch light is on the wrong circuit, the security floodlight is brutal, and the path to the side gate is black from October to March. Getting a proper light out there means an electrician and a trench.
✔️ It lights up as you arrive — keys, lock, doorstep, all visible
✔️ Nothing to wire and nothing to switch on — it runs itself from dusk
✔️ Not a penny on the electricity bill — the sun does the charging
Meet the L85 PRO: A Real Lantern That Happens to Be Solar
✔️ Motion responsive — it senses you coming and lifts to full brightness, then settles back down
✔️ Solar powered — the panel sits in the lantern roof and charges through the day, no cable, no plug
✔️ Wire-free fitting — two screws into the wall and it’s done
✔️ Three modes — motion only, soft glow with a motion boost, or a constant warm glow
✔️ Warm filament-style light — the welcoming kind, not the interrogation-lamp kind
✔️ Proper lantern styling — it looks like a fitting, not a gadget bolted to your brickwork
Two Screws. Done. No Electrician.
A hardwired outdoor light means cable, a spur, an electrician’s day rate and quite possibly a hole through your wall. That’s why so many back doors and side gates never get one.
The L85 PRO skips all of it: hold it against the wall, drive two screws, and it starts working that evening.
“Up in ten minutes and it lights the whole side path. I’d put off sorting that out for two years.”

SEE THE DIFFERENCE ON YOUR OWN DOORSTEP
Before the L85 PRO, the front path was a phone torch held in your teeth. After, the wall lights itself as you walk up — and stays glowing softly behind you.

They Talk About Us
Will it actually work through a British winter?
It charges from daylight, not direct sunshine, so short grey days still put energy in. Be realistic about placement though: a wall that gets some open sky will hold up far better through December than one tucked under a deep porch or behind a hedge. If yours doesn’t perform where you’ve put it, the 90-day money-back guarantee covers you.
How hard is it to fit? I'm not calling an electrician.
You won’t need one. There is no wiring at all — you hold it against the wall and drive in two stainless steel screws, which are in the box. Most people have it up in about five minutes.
Will it survive the rain sitting outside all year?
It’s built as an outdoor fitting, with a weather-resistant housing meant to live on an exposed wall through UK rain and wind. As with any outdoor light, mounting it where water can’t pool on the panel keeps it working at its best.
Does it look like a cheap plastic solar light?
That’s exactly what it was designed not to be. It’s a lantern-style housing with a warm filament-style bulb, and the solar panel is set into the roof rather than stuck on the front. From the street it reads as a fitted lantern.
